What Medical Equipment Requires

A medical display must remain usable beyond the first prototype.

The display is handled with gloves, viewed under strong clinical lighting, cleaned repeatedly and integrated into equipment with its own electrical and regulatory requirements.

01

Readable Clinical Information

IPS viewing angles, controlled brightness, AG or AR treatment and optical bonding help preserve waveform, numeric and image detail under changing room light.

02

Reliable Gloved Touch

PCAP firmware can be tuned for nitrile or latex gloves, stylus input, thicker cover glass and liquid rejection without making the interface unstable.

03

Cleaning-Compatible Surface

Antibacterial cover glass provides an easy-to-clean surface suited to clinical and surgical environments.

04

Controlled Product Lifecycle

Approved drawings, BOM control and PCN/EOL review support equipment programs that cannot redesign the display whenever a panel changes.

Cover Glass for Clinical Equipment

Why ordinary cover glass may not be enough.

Medical equipment adds repeated cleaning, frequent touch, strong room lighting and longer qualification cycles. The glass specification should reflect how the device will actually be used.

GENERAL-PURPOSE COVER GLASS

Designed mainly for basic protection

CleaningUsually specified for occasional wiping, without a defined clinical disinfectant or cycle requirement.
SurfaceStandard clear or printed glass; antibacterial and easy-clean properties are not normally included.
OpticalBasic transmittance and appearance, with limited control of glare under strong examination-room lighting.
IntegrationStandard outline and thickness, often without gasket, bonding or gloved-touch requirements.
CLINICAL-APPLICATION COVER GLASS

Specified around hygiene and operation

CleaningMaterial and surface are selected around the specified disinfectant, wiping method and expected cleaning frequency.
SurfaceAntibacterial cover glass and optional AF easy-clean treatment support frequently touched clinical interfaces.
OpticalAG or AR treatment can control reflection while retaining the detail required for waveforms, values and images.
IntegrationStrengthened glass, custom edges, printing, optical bonding and sealed-front geometry are coordinated with touch performance.

The exact glass, coating and validation conditions are selected for each project; “medical” is not treated as a single universal material specification.

Typical Medical Equipment

Different devices require different display priorities.

The same “medical display” specification should not be copied across every device. Viewing distance, cleaning method, touch input and operating duty change with the application.

Validation Planning

Specifications are converted into checks before production.

The appropriate validation plan depends on the final device. We define the display-related checks together with the customer instead of presenting generic “medical-grade” claims without a test condition.
