​China Launches the World's First 130-inch Display Polarizer

On January 27, Haosheng Technology Group unveiled the world's first ultra-wide polarizer tailored for 130-inch LCD panels in Wuxi. This product has broken the previous production limit of 115-inch panels, providing a new core material support for the display industry's development toward larger sizes.

It is reported that the newly launched 130-inch polarizer has undergone targeted improvements in optical performance. By upgrading the QLC Quantum Light Control Technology, the product addresses the issues of edge light leakage and color deviation at different viewing angles that are common in traditional large-size screens, aiming to enhance visual uniformity. Meanwhile, its high light transmittance technology helps reduce the overall energy consumption of LCD backlight modules.

In recent years, as global LCD panel production capacity continues to concentrate in China, the localization and high-endization of upstream materials have become key issues for the industry. At present, the production capacity of polarizers in mainland China accounts for more than 70% of the global market share. The launch of the 130-inch polarizer fills the technical gap in this specification in the global ultra-wide sector and is expected to drive the further upgrading of the large-size display industry chain.

Wu Yong, Deputy General Manager of Hengmei Optoelectronics and Director of the R&D Center of Haosheng Optoelectronics Business Unit, stated that after cutting 75-inch products on traditional production lines, the remaining width can usually only be matched with about 32-inch products, resulting in limited material utilization. In contrast, the 3000mm ultra-wide production line enables the coordinated production of 75-inch and 55-inch products, significantly improving width utilization and reducing scrap loss. While enhancing cost competitiveness, it also lays a technological foundation for the stable mass production of polarizers of 130 inches and above.

The trend toward larger sizes is unmistakable in the display industry, and the increasing size of end products continues to drive the demand for upstream wide and ultra-wide materials. To improve cutting efficiency and reduce losses, major domestic polarizer manufacturers have actively laid out ultra-wide production lines of 2500mm and above.

Industry insiders analyze and predict that with the commissioning of Hengmei Optoelectronics' 3000mm ultra-wide polarizer production line, the global polarizer market for display panels will form a dual giant competitive pattern.

According to statistical data from Sigmaitnell, in 2025, Shanjin Optoelectronics held a global production capacity share of over 30%, ranking first in the world. Hengmei Optoelectronics has rapidly raised its global production capacity market share to more than 20% through the merger and absorption of the original SDI production lines. It is expected that Hengmei Group's global production capacity share will further rise to 26% in 2026. Going forward, through more proactive investment in new production lines, especially 3000mm ultra-wide production lines, Hengmei Optoelectronics is expected to further narrow the production capacity gap with Shanjin Optoelectronics.
