1000 cd/m² — What It Buys You

1000 cd/m² changes where this panel can be used. It is the difference between a display that washes out and one you can still read:

An outdoor kiosk or ticketing machine, behind a cover lens, in daylight.

An EV charging station or outdoor payment terminal — unshaded by definition.

A vehicle or marine console behind glass, where solar gain is the enemy.

A factory floor panel under high-bay lighting.

Any enclosure where you would otherwise need a transflective panel.

The cost is power. At 4.86 W the backlight is roughly sixteen times the 0.297 W logic figure. Budget for it, and for the heat it puts into a sealed enclosure — which is exactly why this module brings an NTC thermistor out on two pins.

• Retrofits of existing 7.0-inch 800 × 480 equipment — the standard WVGA size, with a brightness and temperature upgrade.

Wide Temperature — Done Correctly

Every one of the eleven reliability tests sits on or inside the module's own stated ratings. That is rare, and it tells you the rating and the test programme were produced together.

ESD is the strongest in this range: Contact ±8 kV, Air ±15 kV, at 330 Ω / 150 pF, 1 second, 9 points, 10 times per point — against ±2 kV human-body-mode on several modules here. Plus 100 G mechanical shock.
