Why it matters, and what is still missing

If your product rides in a vehicle, gets carried around a site, gets knocked off a bench, or has to survive transport without a foam cradle, a specification that only tests the carton tells you nothing about the module. Here the module itself is tested, at figures you can quote in your own qualification document.

Two things we would still want before you rely on it. No axis or direction count is stated — a vibration test normally specifies X, Y and Z, and a shock test normally specifies six faces or three axes; neither is given here, so ask us. And there is no ESD test and no MTBF figure anywhere in the document, which several modules in the range do carry.

• Microcontroller projects and retrofits — 150 KB fits internal SRAM, QVGA is widely supported, and there is no touch controller to integrate.
• Equipment that must survive transport without special packing — the shock and vibration figures are on the module, not the box.
